Dar al-Ifta official clarifies ruling on filming accidents
Dr. Ali Fakhr, the Secretary of Fatwa at Dar al-Ifta al-Missriyyah, has addressed the religious ruling regarding filming accidents before providing medical assistance to the injured. Speaking on the program ‘Fatawa al-Nas’ on Al-Nas TV, Fakhr stated that the ruling depends on the individual's intention and their ability to provide immediate help.
He emphasized that if a person is capable of assisting the injured, they should not prioritize filming, as saving a life and providing aid takes precedence over documenting the event. Neglecting to intervene when capable of saving a life is considered a failure of duty.
However, Fakhr noted that if others are already providing aid at the scene, it is permissible for another person to film the accident for documentation purposes, such as preserving rights or providing evidence, provided it does not delay medical care or compromise human values.
