Daraxonrasib offers new hope for pancreatic cancer patients in the U.S

Radio host Max Parisi has traveled to the United States to access a new treatment for metastatic pancreatic cancer. The drug, known as daraxonrasib (commercial name Rasonque), has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adult patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have undergone previous treatments.

While the oral medication offers hope for extending survival, medical experts note it is not a definitive cure. Oncologist Chiara Cremolini, a member of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), explained that the drug is extremely expensive, with costs reported to be approximately $40,000 per month.

In Italy, the drug is not yet available through the public healthcare system as the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is still reviewing the data. Currently, Italian patients can only access the therapy by paying out-of-pocket, a significant barrier due to the high cost.
