Daren Sammy criticizes ODI conditions and West Indies pay cuts

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy has expressed concerns regarding the current state of One Day International (ODI) cricket, agreeing with India's Gautam Gambhir that conditions are heavily tilted in favor of batters. Sammy noted that bowlers have lacked luck, particularly in high-scoring matches like the recent ODI in Guwahati where both teams surpassed 400 runs.

Beyond on-field challenges, Sammy addressed off-field issues, specifically criticizing proposed 25 percent pay cuts in central contracts by Cricket West Indies (CWI). He stated that such news on the eve of a major series against India negatively impacts squad morale.

Despite the struggles of the bowling unit, Sammy praised the aggressive intent and strike rotation of his top-order batters. He emphasized the need for greater discipline in line and length to pressure the Indian batting lineup in upcoming matches.
