Julia Riera wins Vacaria title as racket‑throw incident sparks protest

During the W75 Vacaria tournament in Brazil, Russian player Daria Egorova threw her racket toward the stands after losing a point, allegedly striking a tournament official. Match officials allowed play to continue and did not disqualify her. Argentine opponent Martina Capurro protested the decision, later kicking the chair of the umpire and vowing to file a complaint with the International Tennis Federation.

In the same event, Argentine Julia Riera captured the singles title without losing a set, defeating Peruvian Lucciana Pérez Alarcón 7‑5, 6‑0 in the final. The victory moves Riera back into the world top‑150 rankings, marking her eighth professional title.
