Darian Mensah regains Heisman favorite status as Jeremiah Smith's odds drop
Miami quarterback Darian Mensah has reclaimed his position as the Heisman Trophy favorite following a shift in betting odds. Mensah, a junior transfer from Duke, moved from +300 to +150 after throwing three touchdowns in a victory against North Carolina. He currently holds 2,425 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with only one interception this season.
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith saw his odds drop from +110 to +275 following a loss to Southern Cal. Smith recorded 10 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in that matchup, but an average of 8.3 yards per reception and an injury to Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin have impacted his campaign. Ohio State's Malachi Toney also remains in contention after recording two touchdowns.
Upcoming matchups involving Notre Dame's CJ Carr, Utah's Devon Dampier, and players from Alabama and LSU are expected to further influence the Heisman race.
