Dario Agrimi's art installation sparks debate in Andria

Artist Dario Agrimi has sparked debate at the 30th edition of the Festival Castel dei Mondi in Andria with his installation titled ‘Liscio come l’odio’ (Smooth like hate). The work features a large cage in Piazza Catuma containing a figure of a hanged man.

Agrimi, a contemporary artist and professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, stated that the piece aims to address how hatred has become normalized in modern society, fueled by hypocrisy and the constant search for an enemy. The installation was made possible through collaboration with Emmegi Grigliati.

The work has drawn criticism from local figures who argue the imagery is too violent and potentially distressing for children. However, supporters suggest the piece is intended to provoke reflection and challenge social stereotypes.
