Dario Safina investigation continues after judge rejects dismissal

A judge in Trapani has ordered the continuation of an investigation involving Dario Safina, a regional deputy for the Democratic Party and former municipal assessor. This decision by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations (GIP) comes despite a request from the Prosecutor's Office to archive the case, which had argued that investigative activities were exhausted and insufficient evidence existed to support the charges.

The investigation centers on the project financing for public lighting management in Trapani. Safina, who served as the municipal assessor for public works under Giacomo Tranchida, is being investigated alongside entrepreneur Christian Valerio. The allegations include corruption, bid-rigging, and the potential misuse of public resources. Investigators are looking into whether an agreement existed to favor Valerio in exchange for political visibility for Safina.

Safina has denied all accusations, stating he has nothing to fear and remains confident that further inquiries will confirm his innocence and clarify the facts.
