Dark Horse releases Star Wars: A New Hope manga art volume

Dark Horse Comics and Lucasfilm have released ‘The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga, Volume 2’, a collection showcasing the original art boards from Hisao Tamaki’s manga adaptation of the 1977 film.

This volume presents the second half of the story in a high-resolution, right-to-left format. It features an all-new translation of the authentic Japanese lettering, which was inspired by the long-standing Japanese language dub. The release includes an in-depth interview with the creator, Hisao Tamaki.

Critics note that while the dialogue remains largely faithful to the English-language version, linguistic differences result in some variations. The work is noted for its detailed panels and the stylistic blend of iconic Star Wars vehicles and characters with traditional manga aesthetics.
