Paranormal tourism emerges as a rising travel trend

A growing interest in paranormal experiences and 'dark tourism' is shaping future travel trends. According to research by Booking.com involving over 28,000 travelers across 32 countries, 65% of respondents expressed interest in paranormal-related experiences.

Approximately 48% of those surveyed would consider activities specifically aimed at contacting the afterlife, while 50% showed curiosity regarding themes of death and spirituality. This trend, dubbed 'Trip to the Beyond' by Booking.com, is expected to be a significant travel movement for 2027.

In the United States, travelers are increasingly seeking authentic thrills by visiting former psychiatric hospitals, mortuaries, and funeral homes. These locations offer guided paranormal investigations and overnight stays, moving beyond traditional haunted house attractions toward more immersive, historical, and spiritual experiences.
