Darmstadt court begins trial for ritualistic murder

A trial has commenced at the Darmstadt District Court involving a 40-year-old woman accused of the ritualistic murder of a 63-year-old man in Heusenstamm. Prosecutors are pursuing a security procedure, asserting that the defendant was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the crime in February 2026.

According to the indictment, the defendant believed she was afflicted by a fungus and sought to perform a ritual to gain protection from demons. The prosecution alleges she killed the victim, a client, using a stonemason's hammer, subsequently dismembering the body and disposing of parts in trash bags. The defendant was apprehended at the German-Polish border following the incident.
