Darmstadt-Dieburg leads Hessen in all-day school childcare

The Darmstadt-Dieburg district has emerged as a leader in Hessen for providing all-day childcare for primary school students. While a legal entitlement to all-day care for all primary students does not become mandatory until the 2029/30 school year, the district is already able to offer places to all students across its 66 primary and special schools.

Currently, 56 schools in the district participate in the program. Approximately two-thirds of the 2,901 new school starters are utilizing the service. The district's success is attributed to proactive infrastructure investments, including the construction of new schools, building extensions, and the creation of multifunctional spaces.
