Konstanz: Shoplifter causes mass respiratory irritation with pepper spray

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Konstanz following a shoplifting incident at a Müller drugstore on Saturday evening. After being detained by a store detective, the suspect resisted, leading to a struggle involving several people.

During the confrontation, a store detective deployed animal repellent spray to subdue the individual. The resulting pepper spray caused respiratory irritation and distress for approximately 25 people, most of whom were uninvolved customers.

Emergency services responded with multiple ambulances and a doctor. Eight individuals were transported to a clinic for further treatment. Police secured stolen perfume valued at 654 euros and have taken the suspect into custody.
