Darío Lupiáñez studies 3D genome organization and gene activation
Geneticist Darío Lupiáñez studies the three-dimensional organization of the genome to understand how DNA folding influences gene activation and cellular differentiation. His research focuses on how a single molecule can provide the instructions necessary to create over 200 different types of human cells.
Lupiáñez, who previously led a research group in Germany, currently works at the Centro Andaluz de Biología del Desarrollo. He has expressed significant interest in the application of artificial intelligence to decipher the regulatory code of the genome, noting that current technological tools are becoming optimal for determining when, where, and to what extent genes are activated.
