Darren Watkins Jr. awards $250,000 prize to nursing student in NYC

Nursing student Ben won a $250,000 cash prize after successfully locating internet personality Darren Watkins Jr., known as IShowSpeed, during a live-streamed scavenger hunt in Manhattan on October 28.

The event served as the finale of the “Million Dollar Mission,” a nine-week global promotional campaign organized by personal care brand Dr. Squatch and creative bureau MSCHF. The campaign featured a total prize pool of $1,000,000 distributed across 25 challenges in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

To find Watkins, participants had to decode GPS coordinates released during a YouTube livestream and locate Dr. Squatch mascots positioned throughout New York City. Ben reportedly used local knowledge of the area, including previous experience kayaking in the vicinity, to navigate the clues and reach the streamer in just over an hour.
