Dartmouth organizations to sign Armed Forces Covenant

Four organizations in Dartmouth are set to sign the Armed Forces Covenant on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Royal Avenue Gardens Bandstand. The participating groups include the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, Dart Harbour & Navigation Authority, Dartmouth Town Council, and the Dartmouth Community Chest.

The signing ceremony will be co-signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence by Captain Simon Cox OBE ADC, Captain of Britannia Royal Naval College. The Covenant is a national pledge designed to ensure that serving personnel, veterans, and their families are treated fairly and do not face disadvantages in public or commercial services compared to other citizens.

Each organization has developed tailored commitments based on their practical capabilities, such as providing employment support, harbour access, community outreach, and civic recognition. The commitment is voluntary and permanent once signed.
