Daruvar invests in social services for persons with disabilities and youth
The city of Daruvar is implementing several major social infrastructure projects to enhance support for vulnerable populations.
The Rudolf Steiner Center for Education and Care is launching a 2.1 million euro project titled ‘Community Center – modernization and expansion of infrastructure’. Fully funded by the European Union through the Competitiveness and Cohesion Program 2021–2027, the initiative includes the construction and equipping of three facilities: a community center and two residential units designed for organized living. This expansion aims to facilitate deinstitutionalization by allowing persons with disabilities to live within the community with appropriate social services. The project also includes the procurement of three vehicles for user transport, with the City of Daruvar providing the land for the residential units.
Additionally, the Daruvar Red Cross is launching the ‘Give Me a Hand – Counseling Center for Children and Youth’ project. This initiative provides free psychosocial support, learning assistance, social mentoring, and early developmental support for children, youth, and their families. The project aims to centralize professional services to ensure families do not feel isolated, transitioning previous volunteer-led efforts into professionalized roles with dedicated staff.
