Daryz wins historic back-to-back Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Daryz, the four-year-old colt owned by Aga Khan Studs, achieved a historic victory at ParisLongchamp by winning the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for the second consecutive year. This feat makes him the first male horse to defend the title since Alleged in 1977 and 1978.

Jockey Mickael Barzalona and trainer Francis-Henri Graffard guided the favorite through a challenging race. After sitting in the back of the pack for much of the 2,400-meter event, Daryz utilized a powerful acceleration in the final straight to overtake Bay City Roller, who finished second. The Irish filly Diamond Necklace took third place.

The victory marks the ninth win for the Aga Khan family in this prestigious race. Princess Zahra Aga Khan, representing the family, noted the emotional significance of the win following the passing of her father, Karim Aga Khan. The win also secures Daryz a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.
