Das Filmfest to screen silent film ‘The Golem’ in Prague
The 20th anniversary of the Das Filmfest, a festival dedicated to German-language cinema, will feature a special screening of the 1920 silent film ‘The Golem: How He Came into the World’. The event is scheduled for October 19 at the U Salvátora Evangelical Church in Prague.
This screening will be accompanied by a new musical concept created by composer and organist Anne Michael. The performance will feature the 30-member St. Nicholas Choir from Hamburg, organist Patrycja Olszewska, and drummer Knud Feddersen. The musical arrangement integrates choral singing, Yiddish folk songs, and improvisation, with singers reacting to the film in real time.
The festival program includes 30 feature, documentary, and animated films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Beyond the Prague screenings, the festival will also travel to Brno, Olomouc, and Ústí nad Labem.
