Dasà officials convicted over stadium overcrowding

The Judge for Preliminary Investigations (GIP) of the Vibo Valentia Tribunal has issued criminal conviction decrees against the Mayor of Dasà, Raffaele Scaturchio, and the President of the City Council, Vincenzo Cirillo.

The convictions stem from an incident on April 13, 2025, during a football match between Nuova Ada and San Costantino Calabro. While the Mayor had signed an authorization limiting stadium capacity to 100 spectators, investigations by the Carabinieri and Digos revealed that nearly 300 fans were present.

Prosecutors alleged that the presence of over 200 unauthorized spectators compromised public safety. Vincenzo Cirillo, who also serves as the treasurer for the Nuova Ada amateur sports association, was held responsible in his capacity as the official in charge of controlling stadium access. The court ruled that the criminal responsibility of the defendants was “unequivocally” established.
