Dash In to redevelop former Red Lobster site in Gaithersburg
Dash In has received zoning approval to redevelop the former Red Lobster property located at 15700 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The conditional use permit allows the company to demolish the existing 6,000-square-foot restaurant building and rebuild on the approximately two-acre lot.
The proposed Dash In facility will include a nearly 5,000-square-foot convenience store featuring made-to-order food, six fueling stations with 12 positions, two electric vehicle charging stations, and an automatic car wash. The site plan also incorporates 35 parking spaces, picnic benches for outdoor seating, and pedestrian improvements such as a 10-foot-wide sidepath, a new crosswalk, and seven off-site pedestrian lights.
The Red Lobster location closed abruptly in May 2024 following the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. While the restaurant chain has since emerged from bankruptcy under new ownership, the Gaithersburg site has remained vacant. An exact opening timeline for the Dash In location has not been established, as the Red Lobster structure must first be demolished.
