Dasha Melnik releases new short film ‘Morning Afternoon Night’
Perth-based filmmaker Dasha Melnik has released a new short film titled ‘Morning Afternoon Night’. The film follows Marta, a young Russian migrant living in Perth, as she navigates the end of her visa and the psychological complexities of displacement.
Melnik, who holds a Master of Screen Studies from Edith Cowan University, describes the work as an exploration of the emotional consequences of immigration rather than a political commentary. The narrative focuses on the tension between a migrant’s past identity and the person they are attempting to become while living in a new environment.
