Dasnagar road repairs begin following fatal Toto accident
A fatal accident involving a Toto (e-rickshaw) in the Dasnagar area of Howrah has prompted local authorities to begin emergency road repairs. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Rakesh Naskar from Domjur, died after the vehicle overturned due to the poor condition of the road near the CTI intersection while he was traveling to a social function.
Local residents blamed the death on the dilapidated state of the roads, noting that potholes have frequently caused accidents for cyclists and motorcyclists. Following the incident, administration officials began repair work on the affected stretch of road on the night of the accident.
Rudranil Ghosh, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Shibpur constituency, acknowledged the issues with the road infrastructure. He stated that previous contracting methods had been problematic and that new processes are being implemented to ensure qualified contractors are selected. Ghosh assured residents that roadwork would continue and that safety improvements would be visible following the Puja festival.
