Dassault Aviation has officially announced the development of the Rafale F5, a next-generation fighter jet intended to serve as a bridge to sixth-generation combat aircraft. CEO Éric Trappier stated that the aircraft is expected to enter service between 2033 and 2035, with potential exports following in 2035.

Developed entirely by France to ensure military sovereignty, the Rafale F5 will feature significant technological upgrades, including advanced sensor fusion, a new radar, and enhanced electronic warfare systems. A key component of the program is the integration of AI-supported 'loyal wingman' drones, which will operate alongside the manned jet to detect and engage enemy air defenses.

The aircraft will also play a critical role in France's nuclear deterrent by serving as the primary platform for the future ASN4G hypersonic missile. This strategic move follows the discontinuation of the European SCAF (Future Combat Air System) program due to industrial disagreements between France, Germany, and Spain.
