Airbus reports increased nine-month profit despite Q3 delivery dips
Airbus has reported a 36% increase in net profit for the first nine months of 2026, reaching 3.587 billion euros. This growth was supported by 547 commercial aircraft deliveries and strong performance in the Defence and Space segment, which saw orders nearly double compared to the previous year.
However, the third quarter presented challenges. Adjusted EBIT for the quarter fell by 9% to 1.77 billion euros, and revenue decreased by 2% to 17.5 billion euros. These declines were primarily attributed to a lower volume of commercial aircraft deliveries and a less favorable product mix. Production was specifically impacted by quality issues involving the A330neo horizontal stabilizer and the A321neo, alongside engine shortages.
Despite these quarterly setbacks, Airbus maintained its full-year guidance, aiming to deliver 870 aircraft and achieve an adjusted EBIT of approximately 7.5 billion euros. CEO Guillaume Faury emphasized a focus on execution and quality amidst a complex geopolitical and operational environment. The company also noted the resolution of recent labor disputes in Spain following a successful ratification process with unions.
