Dasun Shanaka hits fastest CPL century in history
Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka set a new Caribbean Premier League (CPL) record by scoring the fastest century in the tournament's history. Playing for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots against the St Lucia Kings, Shanaka reached his hundred in just 39 balls.
Shanaka finished his innings unbeaten on 121 runs from 43 balls, a knock that included 12 sixes and 8 fours. His performance broke the previous record of 40 balls, which was jointly held by Andre Russell, Tim Seifert, and Shimron Hetmyer. His explosive batting helped the Patriots reach a total of 235/4 in their 20 overs, supported by Andre Fletcher's 64 runs off 38 balls.
In response, the St Lucia Kings were bowled out for just 98 runs in 13.5 overs, resulting in a 137-run victory for the Patriots. Jeremiah Louis led the bowling effort for St Kitts & Nevis with a five-wicket haul, conceding only 10 runs in 2.5 overs.
