Data analytics and sensors enhance livestock health and production
Advancements in data analytics and sensor technology are transforming livestock management by enabling predictive health monitoring and improved production efficiency.
In Spain, Animal Data Analytics (ADA) has evolved from its origins in porcine data organization to focus on advanced livestock information analysis. By identifying patterns in data such as births, mortality, treatments, and productivity, the technology aims to detect early warning signs of health issues before they become visible, assisting veterinarians and farm managers in making informed decisions.
In Chile, during the XVI Chilean Congress of Buiatry, MSD Salud Animal highlighted the importance of converting sensor-generated data into actionable strategies. The focus was on using monitoring technology in dairy production to support health, reproduction, and efficiency. Additionally, experts emphasized the necessity of early-stage care for calves to prevent digestive and respiratory diseases, noting that the true value of data lies in its contextual analysis to support system efficiency.
