Data breach exposes personal details of French politicians and celebrities

A pirate search engine has been discovered online that allows users to access the personal data of millions of French citizens, including high-profile public figures. The platform, often referred to in cybercrime circles as a ‘lookup’ or ‘searcher’ site, enables users to view sensitive information such as phone numbers, home addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, license plate numbers, and even banking details in exchange for a simple email address.

Among the prominent individuals whose data has been exposed are 2027 presidential candidates Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Édouard Philippe, and Marine Le Pen, as well as political figures Éric Zemmour and François Ruffin. The leak also affects celebrities, including footballer Kylian Mbappé and actor Pierre Niney.

The site reportedly offers approximately twenty free searches before requiring a monthly subscription of 20 euros. This database is believed to be compiled from various massive data breaches occurring in recent years, including those involving companies like Free, SFR, and Auchan, as well as security incidents affecting political parties such as La France Insoumise and Rassemblement National.
