Legal and development proceedings regarding data center projects are progressing in the Birmingham, Alabama area. In Oxmoor Valley, a Jefferson County Circuit Court judge has paused hearings on a lawsuit challenging a hyperscale data center under construction. The court has opted to bypass a decision on a temporary halt to the project, moving instead to determine whether the project should be permanently terminated.

In Fairfield, Patmos Hosting, a Missouri-based technology company, is moving forward with plans to convert a former Walmart building into a 20-megawatt artificial intelligence data center. During a recent community town hall, company officials stated they are under contract to purchase the property and expect to submit applications by late August, with hopes for approval in September.
