Data center job growth surges in Spain, Italy, and Ireland

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence is driving a significant increase in demand for data center jobs across Europe. According to data from the global recruitment platform Indeed, job postings for data centers in August 2026 exceeded pre-pandemic levels in ten European economies, outperforming growth in other technology sectors.

Spain, Italy, and Ireland have seen the most substantial growth. Using a pre-pandemic index of 100, job postings in these countries reached 260 in Spain, 237 in Italy, and 210 in Ireland by August 2026. This indicates that recruitment for these roles has more than doubled compared to 2019-2020 levels.

Experts from Indeed note that Spain and Italy have significant room for further expansion. Rather than concentrating solely in traditional hubs like Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, or Dublin, new AI-focused projects are emerging in regions such as Aragon in Spain and around Milan in Italy.
