Data-less clients offer cost savings over VDI and DaaS

A study by the Data-less Client Research Group, established by the Software Association of Japan (SAJ), reveals significant cost savings for companies adopting data-less client technology over traditional virtual desktop solutions. Compared to on-premises Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), data-less clients can reduce monthly costs per user by up to 7,200 yen. When compared to Desktop as a Service (DaaS), the potential monthly savings per user can reach approximately 12,500 yen.

Data-less clients enhance security by ensuring business data is not stored on local devices, mitigating risks from theft or loss. This technology is becoming increasingly relevant as remote and hybrid work models become standard.

Separately, the convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) is accelerating. Historically isolated, OT environments are now connecting to IT networks to meet rising demands for data analysis, remote access, and AI integration. This shift expands the responsibility of IT departments to manage industrial and field equipment security and data quality.
