Data sovereignty becomes a critical strategic priority for enterprises
Data sovereignty has emerged as a critical strategic priority for enterprises, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence, hybrid multi-cloud environments, and complex geopolitical landscapes. Enterprise storage is evolving from a simple archival tool into a fundamental infrastructure for ensuring data availability, cyber resilience, and governance.
A global study by Everpure reveals a significant gap between executive concern and operational readiness. While 88% of C-suite members believe a failure in data sovereignty could cost them their jobs, and 91% fear financial or reputational damage to their organizations, 64% of companies currently operate without a formal data sovereignty strategy.
Key findings from the Global Data Sovereignty Report 2026 indicate that 62% of organizations lack full visibility into who can access and manage their data, and 56% lack mitigation plans for data exfiltration or service interruptions caused by geopolitical factors. In response to these risks, 85% of organizations are willing to sacrifice advanced features to work with local or sovereign providers, and 40% are already limiting the use of SaaS providers that rely on non-national infrastructures.
