Dateline investigates Indiana poisoning case of Harold Allen

NBC’s investigative series ‘Dateline’ is airing an episode titled ‘The Man Who Loved Christmas’ on Friday, September 18. The episode investigates the 2022 death of Harold ‘Peanut’ Allen in Freetown, Indiana.

What initially appeared to be a natural death caused by cardiac issues in December 2022 was later revealed to be a poisoning conspiracy. An unrelated burglary investigation nine months later uncovered text messages that implicated Allen’s wife and stepdaughter in a plot to kill him. The case resulted in one woman committing suicide before charges could be filed, while the other entered a guilty plea and received a 50-year prison sentence.
