Datia rainfall threatens crops as temperatures drop

Datia district has experienced 34 mm of rainfall over the last 24 hours, causing the maximum temperature to drop to 26.8 degrees Celsius. While the rain has brought cooler temperatures, the increased moisture and continuous rainfall pose a significant threat to Kharif crops.

Agricultural experts warn that sesame crops are at the highest risk, with potential direct losses of up to 15 percent due to waterlogging in fields. Additionally, crops such as urad and peanuts may face losses ranging from 2 to 5 percent due to persistent moisture. The total average rainfall in the district for this monsoon season has reached 646.15 mm, which is approximately 74.6 percent of the normal 870.8 mm.
