Dating app fatigue drives shift toward in-person connection

The modern dating landscape is experiencing significant fatigue due to the prevalence of dating applications. These platforms often treat individuals like products in a catalog, where an endless supply of options leads to a cycle of constant evaluation and frequent rejection.

This digital environment has contributed to a difficulty in maintaining long-term commitments. As a response to the exhaustion caused by digital interactions, there is a growing movement toward face-to-face encounters, such as singles' parties and speed dating, to reclaim direct human conversation.

Psychology academic Nicolás Núñez notes that from a neurobiological perspective, human connection is a survival tool. He explains that the human nervous system functions more effectively through co-regulation with others, which is achieved through affective bonds, intimacy, and demonstrations of affection.
