Dating app market reaches $6 billion as Gen Z reports burnout

The global dating app market, often referred to as ‘Tindereconomics,’ reached approximately $6 billion in revenue in 2025. While the industry continues to expand with over 400 million users worldwide, individual leaders like Tinder are facing challenges. Tinder reported $1.8 billion in revenue but saw a decline in the past year.

Data suggests a growing disconnect among younger users, particularly Gen Z. A Forbes Health survey of 1,000 Americans revealed that 78% of respondents experienced emotional, mental, or physical burnout due to dating apps, with Gen Z reporting the highest rates. This trend is attributed to the ‘paradox of choice,’ where an abundance of options leads to cognitive fatigue and a lack of meaningful connection.

In the United States, two-thirds of individuals aged 18 to 29 have used dating apps. In Italy, the Norton Consumer Cyber Safety Report indicates that roughly 24% of the population uses these platforms regularly, spending an average of nearly six hours per week on them. Users globally spend an average of 90 minutes per day on these platforms.
