Modern dating shifts from apps toward in-person connections

Modern dating trends are shifting away from a heavy reliance on digital algorithms and smartphone-based interactions toward more authentic, face-to-face connections.

Dating expert Mateo Diem notes that while apps have made contact easier, they have also reduced the development of essential social skills, such as maintaining eye contact and managing real-life uncertainty. This shift is creating a demand for in-person encounters where individuals can gauge chemistry and connection immediately.

In Slovenia, relationship expert Katja Škrabar has observed a rise in organized dating events, including singles' festivals and picnics, designed to facilitate meeting people outside of digital screens. While the market for such events is smaller in Slovenia compared to the United States, there is a growing desire for direct human interaction to replace the fatigue of endless messaging.
