Datteln authorities prepare for possible bomb disposal and evacuations
The ordnance disposal service in Datteln, Germany, is scheduled to investigate three new suspected bomb sites on November 5. The investigation will focus on the street 'Zum Kraftwerk' to determine if metallic objects found in the ground are unexploded World War II ordnance.
If a bomb with a functioning fuse is discovered, local authorities may implement evacuations. A 250-meter radius would affect approximately 500 residents, while a 500-meter radius could impact up to 1,500 people. Additionally, Castroper Straße would be closed in the event of a disposal operation.
The city has designated a gymnasium at the Gustav-Adolf-Schule as a temporary shelter. Residents are advised to prepare essential medications and pets in case of an emergency evacuation.
