Daud Suleman denies prior knowledge of Chilima plane crash
Daud Suleman, the former Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), has denied allegations that a Facebook post he made on June 10, 2024, indicated prior knowledge of the plane crash that killed former Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others.
Testifying before a parliamentary ad hoc committee investigating the accident, Suleman stated that his social media activity was “taken out of context.” He explained that the post, which included the phrases “Ndinu mafana owaza. Azinzanga, chonde musadzafe. Win this week. Hustle harder,” consisted of lyrics from a song he enjoys.
To support his claim that the post was unrelated to the tragedy, Suleman noted that he had used the same song lyrics in a previous post on May 15, 2024. He urged the committee to review his full social media history to ensure his conduct is assessed based on evidence rather than retrospective conclusions.
