Dauda Ali Biu, former FRSC Corps Marshal, dies at 62

Former Corps Marshal of Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali Biu, has died at the age of 62. Reports indicate he passed away on a Sunday evening at a hospital in Abuja.

Biu joined the FRSC in 1988 and rose through the ranks, previously serving as Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of Finance and Accounts. He was appointed acting Corps Marshal in July 2022 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and was later confirmed as the substantive head of the agency. His tenure concluded in May 2024 when he was succeeded by Shehu Mohammed.

A nephew of the deceased confirmed the death, noting that Biu, who held the traditional title of Jagaban Sabon Gari, is survived by a wife and five children. His remains are expected to be transported from Abuja to Chikaji, Sabon Gari, Zaria, for burial according to Islamic rites.
