Daugavpils woman detained for attempting to smuggle drugs into detention center

On July 31, State Police officers in Daugavpils detained a woman, born in 1999, for attempting to smuggle drugs into a detention center.

Acting on operational information regarding the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, police and detention center staff discovered 60 Clonazepam tablets and 50 Subutex tablets hidden inside five envelopes. The substances were intended for an individual currently held at the Daugavpils detention facility.

A criminal process has been initiated against the woman under Section 309, part three of the Criminal Law, concerning the unauthorized introduction or transfer of prohibited substances into a place of detention, as well as Section 15, part four, regarding an attempted crime.
