Davao City expands tourism focus toward culture and halal services
Davao City is implementing a strategic expansion of its tourism sector, focusing on diverse experiences ranging from wildlife to cultural and religious-friendly services. The Department of Tourism (DOT) Davao is positioning the Davao Crocodile Park and Zoo as a key, accessible attraction to complement the city's existing offerings. Park CEO Marco Philip Dizon noted the facility is reintroducing its evolving wildlife collection and services to the tourism sector.
Simultaneously, the Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is preparing a broader campaign for 2027. This initiative aims to strengthen sports, arts, culture, and community-based tourism. Key upcoming events include Pasko Fiesta, the 90th Araw ng Dabaw, Duaw Davao, and the Kadayawan Festival. To cater to growing numbers of Malaysian and Indonesian visitors, the city is also implementing the Davao Halal Mapping Project and targeting its first Davao City Halal Expo by late 2026 or early 2027.
