Davao Region economy grows 5.1%, outpacing Philippines national average

The Davao Region’s economy grew by 5.1% in 2025, outperforming the Philippines’ national growth rate of 4.4%. According to officials at the Philippine Economic Briefing in Davao City, the region’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached P1.14 trillion, marking its third consecutive year as a trillion-peso economy.

As the largest economy in Mindanao and the fifth-largest regional economy in the Philippines, Davao’s growth was driven by the agricultural, industrial, and services sectors, alongside contributions from construction and financial services. Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go identified Davao City as a strategic economic center for Mindanao, noting that the city itself recorded a 7.9% growth rate in 2024.

Economic managers highlighted that national reforms, such as the CREATE MORE Act and the new PPP Code, are intended to bolster competitiveness and attract private investment. Combined approved investments from investment promotion agencies and the Board of Investments exceeded P1.9 trillion during 2024 and 2025. Officials emphasized that future industrial development will rely on macroeconomic stability, technological innovation, and strong public-private partnerships.
