Dave Alvin’s ‘Blackjack David’ receives deluxe reissue

Craft Recordings and Hightone Records are reissuing Dave Alvin’s 1998 album, ‘Blackjack David’, to celebrate its 28th anniversary. The remastered release is available on two vinyl LPs, CD, and high-resolution digital formats.

Originally released as Alvin’s sixth solo album following his departure from The Blasters, ‘Blackjack David’ is regarded as a seminal Americana work. The album features a folk-inspired sound with elements of blues, country, and roots rock, focusing on acoustic textures and Alvin’s baritone vocals. Produced by multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz, the record explores themes of outsiders, including migrants, veterans, and various characters inhabiting the darker areas of society.

This deluxe reissue includes two bonus tracks that were not present on the original release.
