Dave Bautista stars in post-apocalyptic action film ‘Afterburn’

The treasure-action film ‘Afterburn’ (Japanese title: ‘Afterburn: Seikimatsu no Hiho’) is scheduled for release in Japan on November 13, 2026. Based on the graphic novel by Scott Chitwood and Paul Enz, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic Europe where civilization has collapsed following massive solar flares.

Starring Dave Bautista as Jake, a renowned treasure hunter, the plot follows his mission to locate Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’ amidst a landscape of warring dictators and lawless territories. The cast also includes Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Hirvu, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The film is directed by J.J. Perry, known for his work with the ‘John Wick’ action group 87Eleven, and features a production team with experience from the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. The movie promises high-intensity practical stunts, including car chases and gunfights.
