Dave Mustaine reveals health issues affecting guitar playing
Dave Mustaine, the founder and leader of the thrash metal band Megadeth, has revealed that Dupuytren contracture is impacting his ability to play the guitar. This progressive hand condition involves the thickening and contraction of tissue under the skin of the palm, which can pull fingers toward the palm and restrict their extension.
Mustaine noted that the evolution of this medical condition may be a determining factor in the future of Megadeth and his ability to continue performing. During a discussion regarding his new memoirs, ‘In My Darkest Hour’, he expressed hope for divine healing or future technological advancements that could restore full hand function. While he intends to remain optimistic and continue playing as much as possible, the physical demands of touring and the precision required for his guitar technique present significant challenges.
