He toured the kitchen, sampled several menu items and the restaurant’s signature zeppoles, and posted about the visit on social media. The appearance sparked an immediate surge in customers, illustrating the so‑called “Dave Portnoy effect” that can drive significant business to local pizzerias after his endorsement.
