Dave Stewart releases title track from upcoming album
Dave Stewart, co-founder of Eurythmics and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, has released the title track “The Way It Was Back Then” across all digital streaming platforms. The song serves as the lead for his upcoming 10-song album of the same name, which is scheduled for release on October 30 via Bay Street Records.
The album was recorded at Stardust in the Bahamas using a spontaneous, improvisational process. Stewart, who handled vocals, guitar, keyboards, and programming, often performed melodies and lyrics simultaneously without prior written notes. Longtime collaborator and engineer Jesse Samler contributed bass, drums, keyboards, and programming, with both men handling the final mixing of the record.
An official music video for the title track was released alongside the single, filmed on the streets of Soho to evoke memories of Stewart’s history in London. The album is described as an intimate exploration of themes including memory, survival, love, loss, and loyalty.
