Dave Stewart to release improvised solo album in September

Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart will release a new 10-track solo album titled ‘The Way It Was Back Then’ on September 18. The project was recorded in the Bahamas and is characterized by a spontaneous, improvisational approach.

Stewart composed much of the music through one-take recordings, improvising lyrics, melodies, and chords while playing guitar without prior written material. The album features Stewart on vocals, guitar, keyboards, and programming, with collaborator Jesse Samler providing bass, drums, keyboards, and programming.

In a departure from modern industry standards, the album will not be available on digital streaming platforms; it is being released exclusively in limited quantities on CD and vinyl.
