David Almeida presents Amazon infrastructure, health plan for 2026 race
Amazonas candidate David Almeida unveiled a comprehensive government plan titled “Pra Cima, Amazonas – Energia e Coragem para o Amazonas Prosperar.” The 170‑point program, organized into nine strategic axes, prioritises road rehabilitation—including the BR‑319 corridor and the SOS Rodovias program—urban upgrades in Manaus, and the creation of eight major works in the capital. In health, the plan proposes eliminating the SisReg queue, modernising hospitals, expanding the state network and regionalising specialised services under the “Avança Saúde Amazonas” banner. Social measures include doubling the permanent state cash aid from R$150 to R$300, while security proposals call for more police personnel and the formation of armed municipal guards. Economic initiatives focus on decentralising investment, strengthening the Manaus Free‑Trade Zone and promoting bio‑economy. Youth representatives from several parties participated in drafting the plan, emphasizing education, sport and entrepreneurship. In parallel, incumbent Governor Roberto Cidade was officially confirmed as the Union Progressive candidate for re‑election, pledging continuity of his administration’s policies on security, health and social assistance. Other candidates, such as Omar Aziz, also highlighted infrastructure investment during campaign visits, underscoring the centrality of development projects in the upcoming 2026 Amazonas gubernatorial race.
