David Alonso suffers injury after crash at Moto2 Indonesian GP
Colombian-Spanish rider David Alonso experienced a dramatic weekend at the Moto2 Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika Circuit. During the second free practice session, Alonso set a new absolute lap record for the category with a time of 1:32.187, surpassing the previous record held by Senna Agius.
However, the momentum shifted during the main race. On the opening lap, Alonso was involved in a heavy collision with his teammate, Dani Holgado. The impact severely damaged Alonso's motorcycle and triggered a red flag to stop the race for track cleaning.
Following the crash, the 20-year-old rider was rushed to a medical center. The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar team later confirmed that Alonso suffered a pulmonary contusion as a result of the impact. His recovery and ability to participate in upcoming races remain under evaluation.
